Facebook Ads

Social Media Marketing is seen everywhere in today's world. However, one place in particular that it takes place is on Facebook. Everyone and anyone is on Facebook and this is why it is a prime place to create an ad that can perhaps advertise a blog or site you may have created. Facebook ads are for anyone wanting to use them and the unique part is, one does not need to be selling a specific product or service.

One key principle to staying up to date with any type of Social Media Marketing is to not spend as much time on a Social Media site that becomes irrelevant to society. However, since there are still users of Facebook this site is still relevant to promote advertisements. Therefore, the best advice to follow is "go with the flow" when it comes to any type of Social Media sites, spend your time wisely on sites that people are still using.

A common question asked is, "when do I use Facebook ads?" The answer is pretty simple, there is not really a right or wrong time to use them. However, the goal is to make sure people visit the Facebook page and click the "like" button. Getting your ad out there and known by many is what everyone should aim towards. Advertising is an excellent place to get started for a business, organization, or just for overall fun to become apart of the Social Media presence.

Developing a Facebook Page

When creating a Facebook page it is fairly easy to do, just follow the steps provided.

1.) First go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create and there are many options to choose from. I recommend choosing a category you are interested in.

2.) Next, depending on what category you choose you have to make it your own. For instance, I chose the category of clothing, therefore, my brand/product name was Fall Outfits.

3.) Thirdly, you will receive basic information on how to use your Facebook page and it is good to read the steps because it provides useful information.

4.) The fourth step allows you to upload a picture to set as your main profile picture. It is recommended to do this because the page will be easier for others to find and like.

5.) Lastly, after skipping the information on advertising your page, you have now completed a rough draft of a Facebook page. It is now time to post on your page.

Facebook pages are a good way to express ideas and passions you may have in life. I think it would be cool to get a lot of likes on my page one day because then I know that I am not the only one viewing my page. I want others to have the same interest in fall fashion as I do, so what better way is there then to create a Facebook page and share a variety of different Fall outfits that are in style this year.

Administrator of Facebook Pages

Today in class we went "behind the scenes" of two Facebook pages and became apart of the action. The two pages included: www.facebook.com/npoex and www.facebook.com/freedomsongs. We were able to access the Facebook pages as an administrator and access the settings link as well as the insight links. The activity that takes place on the Facebook page was interesting to see because we were able to track what people viewed and who was actually viewing the pages. For example, through the "people reached" and "post click."

As seen with the image to the right this post reached only 16 people without any advertisement. However, when paid to advertise the post it reached roughly 10,000 people. See the difference it is a big one in which it helps to "boost" your posts but hopefully the return on investment is high.

When taking a look on the insights setting one can view the overview of the posts seen, page likes, and engagement of the people. By pressing the people tab you can view your fans, what country they are from, their age group, and gender. By examining the www.facebook.com/freedomsongs page you can see that the majority of people who view it are males, from the country of Egypt, and are between the ages of 18-24.

This is a valuable tool that Facebook has because it allows you to see your target audience and post information that is related to that group. Becoming an administrator for a Facebook page is a unique thing to do, and I recommend everyone to try it at least once in their life.

Creating a Blog

Social media marketing is an important skill to have in order to find a job in today's world. One way to improve your skills in this area is by starting simple and creating your own blog. Make sure you pick a topic or technique that you are interested in, so you get in the habit of posting ongoing information on your blogs. This tool of creating and maintaining a blog is an important one because future employers or clients can refer to your work and see your work ethic and research skills.

To get started, there are many blog websites that can be used to create a blog, however, one of the easiest ones to work with and is free to use is https://www.blogger.com. There are two ways to sign up, first, you can either sign in with your Google account, or click the "create an account" link at the bottom. Once you have done this you have to click the New Blog button and make a title that corresponds to the topic or topics you will be blogging about. You will have to create an "Address" that your blog will appear at. The next step includes picking a template for your blog. From there you are ready to blog by simply clicking the Create blog button.

Blogs can be about anything that sparks your interest. However, my only advice to a new blogger is to continue blogging and keeping up with your blogs. Do not have your blogs be unattended for long because you want to be able to keep your social media skills up to date. To learn more about Blogger, access the settings menu and select "Blogger Help," this will help with any unanswered questions you may have when blogging.

Writing Your Resume

Writing a resume may seem stressful and scary at first because one may not realize what to write about. However, the first step to writing a resume is grabbing a piece of paper and pen and writing down the answers to the following questions: what are your personal skills that you possess or learned along the way? What skills are you proud of and make you stand out from others? One of the most important features to include in a resume is using quantitative information because future employers like to see a mention of dates, dollars, money or time saved. or brand names in resumes.

Resumes are made for a job-hunter to stand out from their competition. The usual time it takes an employer or the HR department to look through a resume is about 8 seconds. In those 8 seconds a person's resume better stand out to the employer in order for them to stop and really examine the job-seeker's resume. Some helpful information to include in a resume is: volunteer, community, and unpaid work, educational experience, administration, and customer service background. It is also important to include responsibility roles given, computer skills, and any positive feedback from customers or companies employers.

The final step when writing a resume is either posting it everywhere on the Internet, where everyone can see it or you can send it to particular employers whom you have targeted. After your resume is out in the open all you have left is the waiting game in which you wait and see who reaches out to you for potential hiring. Not every employer is the same and looks for the exact same type of resume, that is why it is your job to do some researching before putting your resume out and into the open Internet.

Job-Hunting

Job-Hunting is a reality that many people have to face, especially for those straight out of college or have been unemployed for years now. However, there are key principles for successful job-hunting in the 21st century. A principle component when looking for a job is one must ask themselves three main questions: What? Where? and How? The what refers to the skills you must love to use. Where would you love to see yourself using those skills, for example in what field, setting and with what kind of people? Lastly, how do you go about searching for the name and title of such jobs.

Many people still believe that resumes are the best way to go about looking for a job, however, that is a common misconception. An employer is already overwhelmed with how many resumes are on their desk. Therefore, the best approach one should use is make yourself known and stand out for your future employer. The best way to go about this is by joining a job-club with a step-by-step program, or using the yellow pages of the phone book. Also, it has been proven that if a person knocks on the door of any employer, preferably those with 50 or less employees it has 7 times the success rate of resumes.

Now a days everything is switching to online and the best way to search for a job opening is by using various search engines specifically for job positions. A popular search engine is Quintessential Careers which has been around since 1996. If you are not familiar with technology, a computer to be more specific, that is my number one recommendation in order to help you find the job of your dreams. Becoming fluent in technology will help tremendously in the job market scene and will help you become more familiar and up to date with the careers that are out there.

Social Monitoring

In class today we learned about social monitoring and how important it is to look yourself up to see what is being said about you on social media. This is an important step to do before one goes out looking for a job because future employers can see everything about you on the internet and that can make or break a job interview. A popular website used by many in order to see what is being said about them is www.socialmention.com.

Today's class activity consisted of looking up different people on various "channels" such as news, twitter, a blog post, etc. and trying to get a sense of what the public is thinking.

The Political Figure I looked up was Donald Trump because he is seen in the public eye recently, by searching his name and scanning the recent posts about him I noticed there is a 5:1 sentiment in his favor. However, some posts state that he is not fit for president and is a racist.

The Celebrity I looked up was Britney Spears because she has been around for a while now. By searching her name I noticed she is equally divided down the middle with how many positive and negative posts are said about her, it’s a 1:1 sentiment. Therefore, people are divided on whether or not they like her.

The Brand Name I looked up was Nike, which is a well-known brand that everyone is familiar with in one way or another. Nike makes people speed back into season. By focusing on Nike there is a positive outlook on it and how people view the overall brand. As seen there is a 5:0 sentiment in favor of the brand and the quality of it.

The Product Name I looked up was Charmin Ultra Soft which is a type of toilet paper that is seen in many households and is seen as more of a positive product than a negative one. As stated on the socialmention website there is a 8:1 sentiment in the products favor. Posts have stated that no other toilet paper compares because it is America’s softest toilet paper.

The last thing I looked up was a Company and I decided to go with Google Company because it is a well-known company that many posts say it’s a great place to work. The difference between the positive and negative posts are huge in which there is a 31:1 sentiment that shows how much people view google as an awesome company and one that they can trust.

Next time you are free look yourself up on the computer to see what is being said about you and to prevent anything bad being put up without your consent.
